I Like to Do It

K.C. & the Sunshine Band: I Like to Do It

From Part 3 (T.K., 1976)

It's probably a true fact that everybody loves K.C. & the Sunshine Band. Even the ones that dreaded disco music the most. I have yet to hear someone belt out anything negative on K.C. and his funky, get-down, super-percussive R&B style. And he's probably one of the only few dancing machines to ever emerge from the disco waters without getting bludgeon to death for being another Studio 54 party pleaser.

Probably his most spectacular record ever, Part 3 finds the disco king revving up his hit-making motors song after song. Practically every song on this record had the potential to go gold as a released single - and it's quite evident after hearing radio sizzlers like the #1 pop/R&B hit "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," "I'm Your Boogie Man," "Keep Your Arms Around Me," and the smooth-sailin' funk of "Keep It Comin' Love." But "I Like To Do It" was just as infectious and charismatic. It was released as a single but fails to come to mind with most disco and funk wanderers. Thankfully, time has been very good to K.C. and Richard Finch's sweaty dancefloor workouts. Serious thanks goes to the zesty horns, enjoyable girl-peppered chorus and that 1-2-3 bass punches.
